Notrace was born Rashid I. Musa in Mombasa, Kenya. He went to Maweni Primary School and later to Khamis High School, both in Mombasa, Kenya. After his O-levels, He went to Egerton University, Njoro, Kenya and graduated with a degree in Biochemisrty.
He started rapping after high school although the interest was there since his first form but he decided to put it on hold and pursue his education first. He is also a great poet in the swahili language ever since his years in high school.
His first song was called "Nipe Jibu"(swahili for "give me an answer") featuring Cedric. He later on did "Zi" ( corrupted swahili for "No"), "Kipaji" ( swahili for "talent"), "Siku Njema" ( swahili for "the good day") featuring Fayu and "Kibera Love" featuring Cedric which is doing great in radio stations...
Notrace says that his goal is to take Kenyan rap Music to another level by coming up with stuff that touches on issues that affect our society....
